Explanation of fields
The fields are relatively self explanatory. Those that impact dashboards, reports or require additional explanation are noted below.
- Target amount
- This is the ultimate financial target balance associated with a goal. For example, a goal to go on an overseas holiday may have a $30,000 target.
- Beegle recommends only adding a target amount for goals that are once off spending items, such as the holiday above, buying a car, saving a deposit for a property, etc. An example of a goal where Beegle does not recommend adding a fixed target would be something like funding retirement of $80,000 pa, as this amount does not relate to a point in time asset value.
- The target amount field can impact the display of 'How are you tracking?' dashboard, in particular for goals marked as 'Achieved'.
- Goal achieved date
- The date the goal was achieved.
- In line with the comments for target amount, some goal may never have an achieved date. For example, a retirement funding goal never ends as retirement is ongoing rather than a single point in time.
- This field, in conjunction with the target amount, determine how an achieved goal is displayed on the 'How are you tracking?' dashboard.
