Record Commentary and Judgement
Overview
A Record Comment of Judgement is a structured note that documents advice, observations, or decisions relating to one or more records in Beegle. Comments appear in the Timeline of every record they are linked to.
A single comment can span multiple records — for example, one comment about a couple's superannuation can be linked to both of their accounts and appear on each of their timelines.
Creating a comment or judgement
Refer to this page to create a comment or judgement.
The new comment or judgement appears immediately at the top of the timeline.
Fields
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | No | Defaults to "Record of judgement" or "Record comment" when left blank, depending on whether Record of judgement is checked. |
| Body | No | Rich text — supports formatting, lists, links, document uploads. |
| Record of judgement | No | Mark this as a formal advice judgement. Unlocks the Judgement status field. |
| Judgement status | If record of judgement is checked | Settled, Conditional, or Unsettled. |
| Linked records | Yes (at least one) | The records this comment or judgement appears on. |
Judgement status
When a commentary is a Record of Judgement, its status is shown as a coloured badge on every timeline it appears in:
- Settled — green
- Conditional — amber
- Unsettled — red
This gives advisers a quick visual signal of open or unresolved advice matters across a client's records without having to open each commentary.
Linked records
Every commentary must be linked to at least one record. You can link to any mix of the following record types within the same client group:
- Accounts
- Entities
- Financial Strategies
- Goals
- Individuals
- Insurance Calculations
- Insurances
- Key Dates
- Policies
Use + Add linked record in the form to attach additional records.
Where a comment or judgement is linked to multiple records, the comment can be managed from any of those records. Changes made will apply across all occurrences, meaning there is no need to update them individually.
Editing a commentary
- Expand the entry in the Timeline by clicking it.
- Click Edit.
- Make your changes and click Update Record commentary.
The Last modified date and author are updated automatically on every save.
Deleting a commentary
- Expand the entry in the Timeline.
- Click Destroy.
- Confirm the deletion prompt.
Deleting a commentary removes it from all timelines it appeared on.
Permissions
Client groups with a pending or dormant subscription are read-only — comments and judgements cannot be created or edited while that restriction is in place.
Tips
- One commentary, many records. If advice relates to several records, write one commentary and link it to all of them rather than creating duplicates.
- Use Records of Judgement for advice decisions. The status badge makes open or conditional positions visible at a glance in any timeline.
- Titles are optional. Leave the title blank and Beegle will assign a sensible default based on the judgement setting.
